Niagara : History in Art exhibiting Prints of Niagara Falls from the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University Collection. Generous Donation from Dr. Charles Rand Penney, partially funded by the Castellani Purchase Fund, with additional funding from Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Lytle, 2006.

Exhibits from The Weir Foundation Collection:

  • British Twentieth Century Drawings including work by Augustus John and Dame Laura Knight
  • The Simcoes featuring portraits of Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoes, and Sir George Young, and watercolours by Elizabeth Simcoe.
  • Homer Watson showing our collection of landscapes by the artist, and portraits of the artist by his friends.
  • Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven displayed in Mr. Weir’s bedroom.
  • Canadian Classics including a rare self-portait of Paul Kane.
  • Niagara Falls from the Collection showing historic oils and watercolours.
  • Old Master Prints displaying the oldest artworks in our collection.
  • Quebec 1759 depicting the Conquest on the Plains of Abraham.
  • Marc-Aurele De Foy Suzor-Coté displaying bronzes and paintings by the artist.

Upcoming Special Events

Mon. July 28 - Commemorating the birthday of George Bernard Shaw and bronze portraits of Sir Jacob Epstein held in the RiverBrink Art Museum Collection, Yvonne McMorrough will entertain with her in depth knowledge of Sir George Bernard Shaw. 7:00 ~ 8:30. Click here for the flyer (PDF format).

Sun., August 17 - In conjunction with the Castellani Art Museum Collection of Dr. Charles Rand Penney and from the museum, Curator Michael J. Beam will expand on this extensive collection. 1:00 ~ 2:30.

Wed., August 27 - Giving light to the historical iconography of the CANY exhibition, RiverBrink's Curator Gary Essar will discuss S.E. Weir's connection with the Canadian Association of New York. 7:00 ~ 8:30.

Sat., September 8 - Unraveling the mysterious death of Tom Thomson, Joan Murray, former Curator of the AGO and McLaughlin Gallery will offer insight into our Thomson artworks and the early work he created in St. Catharines. 7:00 ~ 8:00 p.m.

Wed., September 17 - Photographer Peter Ferguson will trace the canoe routes of Tom Thomson through Algonquin Park to the locations from which he painted. 7:00 ~ 8:30.

Thur., October 9 - Revealing the bronze figures of Suzor Cote, Curator Tom Smart from the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and former Curator of RiverBrink Art Museum will discuss his research on this early 20th century French Canadian artist.
