PRODUCER - Has perhaps the biggest job of all! Has to be well organized, and a good delegator. Responsible for all aspects of the production.
DIRECTOR - Has that special vision. Studies the show. Holds Open Auditions and casts the show. Runs the rehearsals, instructs actors, works with everyone to achieve the best possible results.
STAGE MANAGER - Actually runs the show. Works closely with everyone on stage and behind stage.
SET DESIGNER - Works with Director and Producer. Draws up plans, co-ordinates building, painting and decorating. GLT builds the set all day Sunday before the premiere (lunch provided) - and it's fun!
LIGHTS / SOUND - The technical stuff that no show can do without. These people know that if you can't see or hear an actor...it's no good.
PROPS - Big or small - create them or find them. Every production needs an imaginative properties person!
COSTUMES - Advise, research, create, beg, borrow, sew, shop, haunt second-hand stores . . .
PUBLICITY - Without which no one would show up! The job is to get the GLT name "out there"! Are you good at Public Relations? Graphics?
BAR - GLT patrons need liquid refreshments! The head Bar Person is responsible for obtaining the license and recruiting bar servers.
FRONT OF HOUSE - Welcome and usher the audiences, create an inviting environment in the lobby, co-ordinate number of meals with the cateterer.
. . . and so much more!!!

Why I became a member:
As my kids got older and I had more free time in the evenings, I was looking for a new hobby. Working in an office all day, I wanted something active but not a sport. I also wanted to work with a wide variety of new people to broaden my social network: women, men, younger, older, couples, singles, retirees. As a young adult I used to have a creative side and I had no fear of public speaking so thought I would try out at an open audition. Although I didn't get a part that first time, I did do props for 2 shows, Front of House, bar, set-up, tear-down and even produced The Hollow (Agatha Christie). Last season I got on stage for the first time in my life in Caught in the Net (Ray Cooney) and then I hosted a British actor in May. I'm also Public Relations executive this year. I've met a lot of great people, learned a lot, worked hard and am having a great time. Come on out and see if you get "bitten by the bug" too!

When our grandson was born 4 years ago, my husband and I decided that we couldn't travel 3.5 hours each way, few times a week, from Collingwood to this area, in order to spoil the baby. Being retired, we decided to move to Fort Erie, which we came to love! We have been members of community theatres for about 35 years, so one of the first things we did was to look at some groups around Niagara Peninsula. And we fell in love again - with Garrison Little Theatre. As volunteers, we were welcomed with open arms and made a lot of new friends right away. Now we are both involved in just about all aspects of the fun with this wonderful bunch of people. GLT produces three shows in each season... it sure makes the winter fly by!
